“Peg’s presence and knowledge as well as her kind counseling at the time of our father’s death was very helpful. She guided us through what needed to be done and with clarity and calmness explained the choices we had. ” — The Guernsey Family |

“Peg Lorenz was my volunteer from the Emerson Hospital Hospice team from July 2004 through most of 2005. The months that Peg spent with my husband and me were intense. I know she was a real inspiration to my husband in helping him to deal with the fact that he was leaving this world. During his last months I feel he really did feel more at peace with what was happening. Peg knew how to listen when I just needed to talk, when I did not feel I could tell anyone else what I was feeling deep inside myself. Peg was with us for a few overnights and then at 4:45 am when my husband died. She waited a minute or two then came over and put her arm around me saying that he is at peace. It was what I really needed. A soft, gentle voice. Not a lot of words or we need to call the hospice office or funeral home — no, none of those words, just understanding. Just letting me know she was there for me. Peg stayed in touch with me for months after that last night. We talked of my loss and, with her help, I began the process of looking deep inside, feeling the grief, accepting it and beginning to rebuild my life. Peg is a person full of love, full of compassion. She can see beauty around her — not just physical but within us. She can bring peace into your life when you feel, for awhile, that it cannot happen. Peg really helped me those months after he was gone — it meant so very much.” — Nancy |
